Have you ever felt like the new year sneaks up on you, leaving you scrambling to figure out what you want to accomplish? One minute you’re decked out in your coziest holiday pajamas, and the next, the calendar flips, and you’re staring at January like, “Okay, now what?”
We’ve been there, trust us. And while we love a good champagne toast (non-alcoholic for us!), we also know that the best way to start a year is with clarity, intention, and a plan that feels just right. That’s why we created our Vision Board Workshop for 2025, and honestly, we couldn’t wait to share it with you.
Real quick, before we dive in, download this free vision board worksheet that goes with this episode!
Alright, now grab a warm cup of something cozy, and let’s dream big together.
Why Every Year Needs a “Word”
If you’ve never picked a Word of the Year, let us introduce you to your new favorite tradition. Think of it as the North Star for your next 365 days—a word that keeps you anchored when life gets messy (and let’s be real, it will).
Last year, our word was EXPAND. And wow, did we live it. We grew our franchise, pushed boundaries, and leaned into opportunities that, honestly, scared us a little. But that’s the thing about choosing a word—it’s not about playing small; it’s about leaning into the challenge.
This year, we’re choosing something that lights us up all over again, something that feels like a deep breath for the soul. We want you to do the same. Reflect on the past year—what worked? What didn’t? What do you want to feel more of? Maybe your word is balance, freedom, or joy. Whatever it is, make it yours. And hey, if you’re not sure yet, we suggest floating about it. There’s nothing like some weightless relaxation to let inspiration bubble up.
The Power of a Vision Board
Here’s the thing: goals are great, but without a plan (and some visual reminders), they can feel like wishes floating in the wind. That’s where vision boards come in.
A vision board is like a Pinterest board for your soul. It’s a collection of images, quotes, and symbols that represent the things you’re striving for in life. But it’s not just about cutting out pretty pictures—it’s about creating a tool that keeps you aligned with your dreams. When you see your board every day, it works on your subconscious mind, nudging you toward the life you’re building.
Think of it like visualization in a float tank. When you visualize your goals—when you see yourself achieving them—you’re training your brain to make them real. And trust us, it works.
What Goes on Your Vision Board?
Now, let’s get to the fun part: building your vision board! We love starting with the big categories that matter most in life. Don’t forget to download the free vision board worksheet to help guide you. Here’s what we included on ours, and you might want to as well:
- Health: Whether it’s committing to monthly floats, training for a marathon, or prioritizing rest, this is your reminder that wellness isn’t a luxury—it’s essential.
- Career: Dream big here. Starting a business, leveling up in your current role, or even finding more work-life balance.
- Personal Growth: Learning something new, practicing mindfulness, or just giving yourself more grace.
- Relationships: Date nights, deeper friendships, more family time—it all matters.
- Finances: Saving for something special, building an investment strategy, or paying off debt.
- Hobbies/Leisure: What fills your cup? Travel, self-care, art—make sure to include things that bring you joy.
How We Build Our Boards
Building a vision board is as simple as gathering some magazines, a poster board, glue, and a good playlist. Then, search for images and quotes that truly resonate. This isn’t about aesthetics; it’s about creating a visual representation of your best life.
Here’s a little trick we love: when you’re done, place your board somewhere you’ll see it every single day. For us, it’s in our home office, right where it can give us a boost when we’re sipping our morning coffee.
Our Favorite Step: Making It Real
Now, let’s be honest—creating the board is the easy part. The magic happens when you start integrating it into your life.
Every month, we check in with our vision boards to reflect on what’s working and tweak what isn’t. We also pair our vision board sessions with float therapy—it’s the perfect time to dive deep into our goals, visualize the outcomes, and let the ideas simmer.
After the float? Journaling time. This is where we lock in those aha moments and turn inspiration into action. Trust us, this process is a game-changer.
Let’s Dream Big Together
As we gear up for 2025, we’re inviting you to join us in creating a vision that excites you. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to dreaming big, but there’s something magical about putting pen to paper (or glue to board).
We’d love to see what you create. Share your Word of the Year or a snapshot of your vision board on social media and tag us @AlteredStatesWellness. Your dreams inspire us—and who knows, they might just inspire someone else to start their journey, too.
Here’s to a year of clarity, action, and transformation. Let’s make 2025 the year we unlock our potential—together.
Stay inspired,
JoJo & Kyle
